It has been reported that Members of Parliament in Cyprus are discussing a new whistleblower protection law to transpose the EU Directive on Whistleblowing. All 27 EU Member States must fully transpose the Directive. The 17 December 2021 is the official deadline for implementation.
MP Irini Charalambides has publicly criticized the government Bill for ‘lacking real protections’ stating that it does not protect all whistleblowers.
